PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO (November 20, 2024) – NASEF, the Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations, and The Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro have joined together to form “NASEF EUROPE.” The launch was formally announced at the annual worldwide Organizational General Meeting of the IESF World Esports Championships in Riyadh this week. This new organization will build its foundation on the international experience of NASEF, with a goal of fostering educational opportunities, community building, and personal growth through the integration of esports in scholastic environments.
NASEF Europe aims to adapt and expand the successful framework established by NASEF around the world, ensuring its relevance to the unique cultural and educational contexts across Europe. NASEF Europe will support the educational aims of all IESF member Federations in the European region.
"Today marks a big day for esports in Europe as we embark on a journey with NASEF forming NASEF Europe together,” said Filip Šoć, President of the Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro. “I believe that together we will be able to do many things together in regards to gamification, education, and growing the esports community. It is my honor that the root of this seed has been planted in Montenegro and soon it will spread across Europe. An exciting chapter is ahead of us."
Gerald Solomon, Executive Director of NASEF, said, “Esports not only fosters camaraderie and competition but also acts as a conduit for learning in fields such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), digital literacy, and soft skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork. We are honored to bring our years of scholastic experience in esports to support NASEF Europe as it works to empower students and educators alike.”
The key objectives of NASEF Europe are:
- To promote scholastic esports as a dynamic platform for academic excellence and personal development.
- To provide professional development and resources for educators to successfully integrate esports programs into their curricula.
- To foster an inclusive and equitable environment, ensuring participation from diverse communities.
- To align with international standards and collaborate with other NASEF organizations worldwide.
Mia Kraljević-Ćalasan, Board member of the European Esports Federation, added, “Less than a year ago the Alliance of Electronic Sports of Montenegro signed an MOU with NASEF and held a European Gaming Summit this past Summer in Bar, Montenegro. Now we are joining forces to establish NASEF Europe. It is truly an honor and it goes to show that a mutual belief has no borders. We will strive to make NASEF Europe the synonym for scholastic esports as we spread the power of blended play and learning across Europe."
