The Minecraft COVID-19 Challenges is a nation-wide competition for students in grades 3rd-12th. We’re looking for students who want to learn about and respond to issues related to the current global COVID-19 by creating solutions in Minecraft. Good luck and have fun!
Challenge #1: Stuck @ Home
Challenge Details
Being stuck at home for weeks can be dull but designing an awesome house to be stuck in would make it a whole lot better!
- What would your epic dream home be? A boat? A starship? A castle? A Jawa Sandcrawler?
- What would be in it? 800" screen TV? Indoor pool? An IMAX movie theater?
- Where would it be? On the beach? Underwater? On the moon?

Challenge #2: What is COVID-19
Challenge Details
What is a virus? Things in nature, though destructive, can be beautiful. Scientists use 3D models to help develop treatments. Build or code a model of the COVID-19 virus. Label its structures. How does it work? What makes it unique? How might you develop an effective way to combat it?

Challenge #3: Future Medical Facility
Challenge Details
Viral outbreaks require careful treatment and care for patients as well as plans and equipment to keep the virus from spreading to others.
Design a future medical facility capable of handling these challenges. Focus on architecture, design, systems and procedures. How will your facility treat patients with care while slowing the spread of the virus?

Challenge #4: Inform the Public
Challenge Details
There has been a lot of misinformation regarding the spread of COVID-19 and how people should protect themselves and others.
Design a museum or library that timelines the outbreak along with providing useful information for the public.

Challenge #5: Escape_Entry Room
Challenge Details
Well actually, an entry... Washing your hands is a simple way to combat COVID-19, but the bathroom is nowhere to be found! Can you create a series of challenges that have to be solved so you can get to the bathroom and wash your hands?
Submit up to a 5 min video of your COVID-19 model created in Minecraft or Fortnite Creative and share your link on Twitter! Include the hashtag #MinecraftCOVID19
Challenge #6: COVID-19 Rube Goldberg Machine
Challenge Details
A Rube Goldberg is machine a complex device that solves a simple problem with multiple steps. Can you create a Rube Goldberg machine that addresses a problem related to COVID-19?
Submit a 5 min video of your COVID-19 model created in Minecraft, Fortnite Creative, or build one out of things from home (use those toilet paper tubes!) and share your link on Twitter! Include the hashtag #MinecraftCOVID19
How It Works
The North America Scholastic Esports Federation along with its Affiliates the Garden State Scholastic Esports and the Florida Scholastic Esports League released six challenges for you to create in Minecraft! Each challenge was released via our Twitch Stream during the week of 3/23. We hope you were able to join us as we released a new challenge and shared tips, information, how-tos and live-builds.
What you need to do to enter the Minecraft COVID-19 Challenges :
- Watch our stream (click on the stream above)
- Review our the eligibility requirements
- Follow the Challenge guidelines in Flipgrid (see Active Your Challenge button)
- Use Minecraft to address the Challenge
- Create a video using Flipgrid (times will vary per challenge)
- Submit your video in Flipgrid
- Share your video on Twitter, using the hashtag #MinecraftCOVID19
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Minecraft COVID-19 Challenges, all entries must meet the basic requirements:
- Be submitted by a student in grades 3rd-12th attending a school in the United States;
- Must be your own original work;
- Must not contain any content that is obscene or offensive;
- Must not contain your image or any identification markers;
- Follow the guidelines as outlined in Flipgrid; and
- Videos must be submitted in Flipgrid.
