No cancellations due to COVID: full line-up of tournaments, clubs, classes, and challenges freely available this fall from NASEF, in both in-person and online formats

(Orange County, CA – August 19, 2020) – The North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF) has a huge line-up of scholastic esports options for students and educators this fall. Unlike almost every other club and sport, nothing is cancelled due to coronavirus! NASEF is moving ahead with even more popular options for all students.

Everything offered by NASEF is free, plus many scholarships and school grants are available. Options include:

• Overwatch: two options are available, allowing for hundreds of teams to compete. The High School Scholastic Tournament is geared towards seasoned players and highly competitive teams; the Community Play-In Tournament is geared towards newer teams and Clubs. Learn more. 
• Rocket League: by popular demand, NASEF will now offer a high school scholastic tournament featuring this sports-action game. Details here. 
• FREE professional coaching on game and team skills is provided for competitive players
• Extra Credit mini-tournaments in titles like Smash Ultimate, TeamFight Tactics, and students' choice titles
• Minecraft design and build competitions
• Coaching clinics for everyone
• Training techniques to build health and competitiveness 
• Career advice from streamers, casters, and more through interviews and VODs
• Beyond the Game™ scholarships for designing, modding, analyzing and more
• Mentorship and advice from college students and esports directors
• Free California state-approved curriculum for the classroom in 15 different Career Technical Education (CTE) focuses, plus English Language Arts
• Students socialize! Esports clubs provide time to bond with friends online or in-person, depending on local guidelines 
• Free support to help schools and afterschool programs with implementation

Esports for education

NASEF’s programs leverage massive student interest in video gaming for education on career and life skills. Research from the University of California, Irvine, demonstrates that students in NASEF programs are making significant strides in social-emotional development, plus improving STEM skills and building career aspirations. Students learn about all areas of the esports ecosystem while participating in their favorite activity in a club, class, or competitive team.

Every high school student across North America is invited to join NASEF through a local club, which can be formed by high schools and community-based organizations. Member clubs receive free access to all learning tools and the ability to participate in any desired tournaments.
